Information for Parents

Hello and welcome to the parents’ section of our website.

In this section, we’ll give you an idea of what Routes for All is and the activities your child will be taking part in.  As well as this, we’ve got some handy advice on what you can do to help your child make the most of their time in S5 and S6 at school.

Routes for All is part of a wider school based programme called FOCUS West.  Your child may have already been involved in other parts of FOCUS West in previous years. FOCUS West is a joint collaboration between the six Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) and twenty-one partner colleges in the West of Scotland. FOCUS West works to raise aspirations of pupils in schools in the South West of Scotland. The Routes for All element is organised through a partnership between Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of the West of Scotland.

Our programme is tailored to support pupils who are thinking about continuing their education beyond school and applying to further and higher education courses.  It has been developed to give pupils the necessary tools to succeed in their journey towards post-school education, preparing them to make the transition from school to college/university.  It does this by means of delivering short one-hour ‘workshop style’ sessions throughout S5 and S6, which your child will participate in at school.

For more details on the sessions your child will take part in, click on the appropriate year-group in the green box to the left.
